Arye was asked to create three bronze portrait busts of leaders of the IUOE (International Union of Operating Engineers). These folks operate some of the largest construction cranes in the world. They are of the president, the past president, and the regional director of this union. The busts had to be a surprise. He attended the dedication of a new union hall in South Texas under the guise of being the event photographer. Surreptitiously, he took hundreds of their photos and worked entirely from the photographs, reducing double chins and signs of aging.
